Platinum plating

Platinum platedPlatinum plated filter

Platinum is a metal that has given a generic name to platinum group metals. In addition to platinum, these include rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, iridium and osmium. The platinum coating does not oxidize in air and is highly resistant to corrosive conditions. Platinum has a high melting point and catalytic properties. Up to 20 % of all consumer goods in the world contain platinum or are made using platinum. Due to its properties, platinum is an excellent choice when the product is required to withstand extreme climatic conditions.

Eforit is leader in platinum plating in Finland. We make platinum coatings e.g. technology industry and research institutes.

The properties of the platinum coating are:

  • Hardness 400 HP
  • Coating thicknesses 0.1 – 2 μm
  • Applications: catalyst coatings, scientific instruments, titanium anode coating
  • Typical coating thicknesses range from 0.5 µm to 5 µm.
